artist statement
One of my fondest childhood memories involves coloring with a new box of crayons on my grandmother’s living room floor. I can recall the scent. And the way the tooth of the paper allowed the waxy crayon to change its texture completely. And the magic of placing color where there was none before. As far back as I can remember, making art has provided a mysterious source of power and inspiration for me.
I am blessed to have a family who encouraged my creative and artistic growth. I graduated from University of Georgia with a fine arts degree in Art Education, and since then, I have taught kids of all ages – my dream job.
In my free time, I enjoy creating anything, including mixed media tributes to travel and family history, small, frameable works to share through the mail, and original, wearable art. In the works of other artists, texture and high contrast attract me. And I still marvel in the magic of color.
